Description

Aislinn, Lupine Slayer from Reaper, sculpted by Julie Guthrie.

Normally, I'm a big fan of Guthrie's work, but I have an immense dislike for this fig. I gave up trying halfway though on this one and I'm sure it shows. It's all the worse for the fact that it looked quite good in the blister, then I got it out and little things kept cropping up. The angle of the head means that, unless you're fighting an in-scale Great Red Wyrm, the eyeline will never quite line up with anything else on the map, which means that it perpetually looks like the mini is avoiding a fight; if she looked more as if she were howling it would work, but she's just...kind of looking off somewhere.

Also, contrast this get-up with the other Guthrie werewolf that I posted. [link] One gets practical plate mail. The other gets a loincloth and fetish gear. A Hefty bag held on by bondage straps -- it almost makes me miss chainmail bikinis and breastplates with nipples. Even the non-catgirl anthros cannot escape the looming specter of fantasy T&A.

And, of course, the pair of swords, each longer than her torso. Not something that normally bothers me very much, but, combined with the other bits, it grates.

Acrylics and matte clearcoat, about two hours. Reptile sand, railroad scenery gravel, field grass, and acrylics for the base, another two hours.
